Emotional Abuse

Introduction:

Emotional Abuse as the term suggests includes emotional exploitation or manipulation - verbal aggressions can be included as a part of emotional abuse.

Sometimes this kind of abuse is subtle, manipulative that is difficult to recognize. It takes away the victim's self belief. In fact sometimes it can manifest in personality changes i.e. the victim becomes withdrawn and displays signs of anxiety or depression.

Signs and Symptoms:

Some of the behavioural signs of someone emotionally abusing you could be:

  • Blaming you for any and every incorrect action of the abuser
  • Neglecting your physical and emotional needs and giving precedence to the abusers physical and emotional needs
  • Make you feel guilty as if you always let the abuser down
  • Ridiculing you either in public or private
  • Humiliate you either in public or private

Causes:

A few reasons people emotionally abuse others are:
